finals 2006
8:41 PM
i guess every great game is like that. no one really deserves to lose. but you can't have a winner without defeat. i applaud both italy and france; they really proved to everyone why they deserved to be where they were last night. but sadly, i harbour the fear that it won't be the results or the game that people talk about. no, it will be the red card shown to zinedine zidane, arguably one the world's best players in the dying minutes of the game.yes. he was wrong. i have to concede that. for absolutely no reason should you physically retailate at someone regardless of what they do in a sports match. but people seem to forget; legend he may be, zidane is all but human. his last match, the finals of the world cup 2006, will unfortunately be remembered for all the wrong reasons as people say. but i also harbour a hope in my heart. a hope that people will remember zidane for more than just a raw display of his emotions. i hope they will remember him for his emotions that have lent him the courage, strength and determination to defy age, critics and everyone else. i hope that they will remember his dazzling footwork and his honest, friendly nature. i hope they will remember a man who stayed true to his heart, no matter what the circumstances. i hope that the memory of zinedine zidane will remain in the hearts of many as it has in mine. headbutt or no, zidane; il n'a pas d'importance quels gens disent; vous êtes toujours un héros à moi. you will always remain a hero in my heart, no matter what people say.you have no idea how pivotal you are. you are not just an idol. you are a god to some. your dismissal sank the hearts of many. it shattered the morale of your team mates. but somehow, i don't think they will blame you. just as i have, they will accept it. they will never question you about, despite the burning desire to know why, zidane, why? out of respect for a galacticos they will remain their silence. just as you do, accepting whatever comes your way. people may say you destroyed the reputation of the game. i beg to differ. you just showed all the more that it's a game of heart, not skill or strength. you did what you think was the right thing. and for that, zizou; i salute you.zinedine yazid zidane: a man who shall remain as a hero in hopefully, the hearts of many. including mine.
lone wolf syndrome.
